My name is Stephen Blackwood, and I am the eldest of Robert and Catherine Blackwood’s ten children. I am thirty-one years old, twenty years younger than my mother, who was diagnosed with Carcinoid in December of 2005. Over the years I’ve been through a lot with my family, and shared a lot with my mother in particular while helping her manage the family. Since my mother’s diagnosis, I’ve felt sadness, anger, confusion, and fear. I’ve also seen determination, beauty, strength, and love, and all of these in ways I did not know before. Over the next months and years I intend to write about these, and about many other things as well, in this online journal.
